| Compliance Program Development | ||||||||
In keeping with federal government guidelines, FTS strongly encourages its clients to develop a documented compliance program. Call it what you wish, it is a compilation of the companies policies and procedures relating to the export and or import of company related materials, technical data, software and any related electronic commerce. It is the only way that companies have of assuring any degree of compliance. It should be noted that both the Departments of Commerce and State have acknowledged that compliance programs may justify the mitigation of civil penalties in certain cases. |

| FTS Involvement | ||||||||
| FTS will do as little or as much as is required by the client. Most companies simply either lack the time or the expertise to completely develop the program on their own. Even after visiting the government web sites and reviewing the guidelines, they are still not quite sure how to proceed. Although FTS has written a number of these programs, it must be recognized that what applies to one company may not necessarily apply to another. However, this experience does bring with it some economies that may benefit you, the client. There are many issues that are common to certain industries that we have already dealt with and may therefore eliminate some time by applying solutions that have worked for other clients. | ||||||||
| Process | ||||||||
| Most of FTS' development work is done in their office. Relatively little travel (and therefore travel expense) is required. If it is deemed necessary by the client, FTS will spend whatever time is required on site in preparing for the project. As work is completed it will forwarded to the client's contact party. The contact party then has the drafts reviewed and revisions are forwarded back. Progress reports can be provided upon request. Larger clients will generally expect a few face-to-face meetings. As much as possible, without jeopardizing client time tables, to minimize travel expense, these will be scheduled with other FTS travel commitments. |
